Certifiably Good at Sustainable Quality

Möbelfakta

The wood and furniture companies (TMF) have developed this reference and labelling system to cover technical, environmental and production ethical requirements. A piece of furniture that lives up to Möbelfakta’s three parts meets the requirements for environmental friendliness, is manufactured according to ethical guidelines and complies with current requirement specifications in terms of quality. It ensures sustainable development and gives furniture producers a strong starting point both nationally and internationally.

We work continuously both internally and collaboratively with external institutions to ensure that all our materials and processes meet our high expectations of environmental awareness, longevity and social responsibility.

Allowing third parties to review our work is no substitute for our own internal quality control, but such audits still work both as a kind of grade and as a reminder that our own standards are still higher than the requirements of the government and of other organisations.

Here are some of the certifications that Swedese has been awarded so far:

ISO
The International Standardization Organization (ISO) is a global body whose standardizations have been internationally accepted and are used today by almost all countries. Swedese is certified according to both ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environment). This means that we work with documentation, with our customers' expectations and with continuous improvements to meet the requirements of each respective standard.

FSC
All wood raw material purchased for Swedese and for our suppliers must be labelled with one of the known origin labels for wooden raw materials. Among these, the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is the most common. The FSC encourages green, socially beneficial and economically viable use of the world's forests, and certified companies commit to complying with the rules set out in the fields of forestry and traceability.

Nordic Swan
Over 25 years ago, the Nordic Council of Ministers started work on the Nordic Swan label, which helps consumers make good choices for the Environment. It started with paper, batteries and detergents, but now you can find the Nordic Swan on more than 10,000 different goods and services.  The Nordic Swan develops criteria from the perspective of a lifecycle - from raw material to waste. It is often a question of developing criteria for products that are used in large quantities and by many people.

EU Ecolabel
Today the Nordic Swan is joined by an official environmental label, the EU Ecolabel, better known as the EU Flower. Initiated in 1992 by the European Commission, the mark has strong repute in most European countries, but particularly in France, Italy and Germany. Like the Nordic Swan, the EU Ecolabel is meant to encourage industry to make environmental improvements and help consumers make better choices. The requirements specification describes the entire lifecycle of the products and includes both environmental aspects and social responsibility.
